Microsoft-Yahoo Deal?

I know Yahoo declined the recent Microsoft deal but what if Microsoft would sweeten the deal and yahoo excepts it, would the Yahoo brand die? I mean look Yahoo has a line-up of dedicated services like mail, messenger and now even Flickr with a host of users and with a merger how would they keep the loyal fanbase? Also if such a deal wouldn't work out then where do you think Yahoo would turn next and why?
