Web Hosting Dedicated Hosting

Help again please!!! web domain/hosting?

okay I'm gonna ask again just to be sure....here is what is going on. I and this other girl(becky) were members of a site the original owner(brad) decided to give it to us. She transfered the domain name to me. then she transfered the host stuff to Becky. Well then Becky decides that she is the sole owner of the site and I have nothing to do with it anymore. I was wonder what having the domain in my name means and if there is anything that I can do? What is the difference between hosting and the domain? I am so mad lol I don't really now what to do. Thanks for the help!

  1. domain = a name given to the website to cover the web hosting default adress. web hosting = a web hosing company runs a server to put ur stuff in and run on a web site. domain name is not free u have to pay it per year. webhosting, there are some free ones but some are not free
  2. If it is in your name, you should be the rightful owner. Figure out what site the domain name is registered through (e.g. GoDaddy.com), contact them, and change your password if needed.
  3. The domain name points to the Web server and the site on it. For example, the domain name answers.yahoo.com points to the computers at Yahoo! that host Answers. You quite clearly need technical, and possibly legal, help. 1. You need to establish who is the registrant of the domain name. The registrant is the "owner" of the name. It's the Registrant who ultimately determines what is done with a domain name, such as what Web server it points to. You can find out who the registrant is by visiting a Whois server, such as http://www.netsol.com/whois and searching for your domain name. If you are not the registrant, you are out of luck and this conversation is basically over. If your name is listed as the Registrant, you can basically change other information about the name and get it to point at a new site. One thing you will want to do if you are the registrant is change the administrative, billing and technical contacts to be yourself. How you do that depends on who the registrar is. The registrar is the company that sold Brad the domain name. Then, you'll want to change the DNS (Domain Name Servers) to point to something other than Becky's Web site. Again, how you do that depends on the registrar. It may well turn out that even if you are listed as the registrant of the site, you cannot hold claim to it due to legal reasons, or that you may be infringing on some rights Becky has, etc. That's why I say you are wise to contact an attorney knowledgeable in this area, or work with a consultant familiar with such matters.
  4. Both parts are EQUALLY important for overall success of the web site. If you cant work together, one should buy the other out. Get a quote of the web sites worth at: http://www.premiumdomain.com/from/
  5. You need a domain like www.yourname.com and then will need webhosting to publish your web pages. If you are serious about websites either for personal or your business, don't go to free web hosting as they are usually not reliable and you may end up losing all your hard work. Free web hosts usually put advertisements on your websites and it could be annoying. If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account. I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent. Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukenden/ They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well. Visit the site to check details. Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukenden/ Domains Following site is quite good to register domains as price is reasonable with free privacy. Some charge about $5/ year just for free privacy. IPOWER http://www.anurl.com/?TXIBE
