How can 000webhost afford to offer free web hosting services? Are they any good?
http://www.000webhost.com/ How can they afford to offer free web hosting services? Would you recommend using their service for a small informational website? Thanks for the answers! Yeah, they have ads on their site, but it says that they do not put any ads on your site. From their website: "No ads of any kind Our promise to you - no catches, no setup fees, no forced advertising, no banners, no popups, no posting required and no hidden charges. Only totally free hosting service. We will never ask you to pay anything, you get everything for $0.00 - that is why we are called 000 webhost."

- I'm not sure about the quality they will deliver to you as a user, but from the moment you enter the web... the right side is filled with 'advertisements' and that's how they survived. The more users they have, the more website they have to put their ads on. smart eh? ^_^

- They do indeed NOT put any advertisements on the sites of their users... AND you get stuff you'd be hard-pressed to find on other free hosting services. 5 FTP accounts, 5 email accounts, 5 MySQL databases, full cPanel, etc. The only revenue source that I can see is the ads on their main site. Perhaps they also offer paid hosting and other tech support services at additional cost. I have noticed a few times when the server I'm on was down for a few minutes, ONCE during the past month. Not a bad track record for something I didn't pay for. Here's a link to a test site I put up... this one has WordPress installed, so it's database-driven, and I've put in a plug in to play audio files via Flash... so I'm pushing the "free hosting" envelope... http://gruumsh.890m.com And yes, the above link has an ad, but it's one that I put on there myself, it wasn't automatically added for me.
